Christians Behaving Well
Learning to Get Along In the Family of God
– Part 3
From congregational readings in 1 Cor 11-15, July 13,

1 – SERVE WELL
with the spiritual gift(s)
God gives you
1
Cor 12:1-7, 11
Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorantÉThere are
different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of
service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same
God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is
given for the common goodÉAll [spiritual gifts] are the work of one and the
same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
1
Cor 12:14-20
Now the body is not made up of one part but of manyÉGod has arranged the parts
in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all
one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one
body.
1
Cor 12:27-31
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And in the
church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third
teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those
able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in
different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers?
Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do
all interpret? But eagerly desire the greater gifts.
2 – LOVE WELL
with a love that comes
from God
1
Cor 13:4-7, 13
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not
proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it
keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the
truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveresÉAnd
now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is
love.
1
John 4:7-12
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who
loves has been born of God and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is
how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world
that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that
he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear
friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
3 – BELIEVE WELL
with confidence in GodŐs
word
1
Cor 15:1-5
I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on
which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold
firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to
you as of first importance:
that
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
that
he was buried,
that
he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
and
that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.
1
Cor 15:13-19
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And
if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More
than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have
testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise
him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then
Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your
faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen
asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are
to be pitied more than all men.
