What Does the Cross &  Resurrection Mean To You?

Resurrection Sunday – April 12, 2009 – Dr. Brian Kluth -  bk@kluth.org

Are you in denial?

Matt 28:11-13  Some of the guards (who had guarded the tomb) went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.'

Are you unconvinced?

Mark 16:9-11  When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene…She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping. When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.

Are you confused?

Mark 16:9 Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb.

Luke 24:12 Peter…got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

1 Cor 1:18 I know very well how foolish it sounds to those who are lost, when they hear that Jesus died to save them. But we who are saved recognize this message as the very power of God.

Are you convinced?

John 20:8 Finally the other disciple (John), who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.

John 20:24-29  Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it." A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
